Day 78 – Back in Straya

Well, I’m back in Sydney and the weather isn’t as nice as when I left it in January. When I arrived I took the train into the city instead of taking a cab like I did last time, mistake avoided. I got off at town hall and walked until I found a decent hostel to stay at that wasn’t too expensive. I settled for 790 on George – I met some people from the hostel and that night we went out and had some fun. That night Colby and Cody were arriving so I was waiting to hear from them, we decided that we would meet in the morning. The next day I checked out of my hostel and waited for the boys to contact me. They messaged me saying they were in King’s Cross looking for my hostel, I was like well, my hostel is not in King’s Cross it’s in the city, and they were like well that would be why we can’t find it. I met them in King’s Cross and we went to walk to the city to find Cody some jeans. We didn’t really do much the day after we arrived, had some drinks, I moved hostels and then we went out. It was definitely a fun night! Yesterday, our plan was to go to the beach but that didn’t end up happening and the weather wasn’t that great either. I went to meet the boys at the place they were staying and I couldn’t remember exactly where I was going. After walking around aimlessly for 15 trying to figure out google maps I was en route in the right direction. Almost an hour later and a couple more wrong turns I ended up at their place. I remembered that their window was the front of the building but I couldn’t remember which window it was. After contemplating what to do for 20 mins I decided I would throw my shoe at the window to get their attention. There were two big windows, one of the left and one on the right. I chose the one on the left I took my sandal and gently tossed it at the window. It was perfect timing because someone was getting up or walked by the window as the shoe hit, she jumped so high and screamed. At the moment I realized, crap!! that’s the wrong house. I waved, smiled and asked her if she could let me in, I was truly confused as to where their place was now that I messed up the first time. So I got her to take me to the second floor and that was clearly not right. So I was back to square one – I went back downstairs and messaged Craig the guy that actually lives there and he said he was dropping by with keys so I waited patiently for him to let me in.
Last night I met up with Jeenie and her friend and his friend and we went to house of crabs – the food was great but the company was even better. I had such a good time – Colby and Cody met us after and then we went to meet up with Kim and Caroline. It was a good night and I didn’t get to bed until 4am.
This morning I had to check out by 10 and by about 9:15 I was ready to go. At about 9:45am I started to walk to where the boys are staying, to stay for the rest of the weekend. This weekend in Sydney is huge and almost all the hostels are booked – tomorrow is Mardi Gras. Anyways, today I was walking in the pouring rain to where I’m now staying – I checked my phone and figured out how I was suppose to get to there, I put my phone away and approached a big intersection. My directions were to go straight, and straight ahead was four roads that could or could not have been the right way. I took my chances and I picked a street and continued walking. I pulled out my phone to make sure I was going the right way but just my luck my phone died. I kept walking for a while and then decided I have zero clue where I was so I jumped in a cab. When I arrived it was $15, which made me come to the conclusion that I had absolutely no idea where I was or where I was going.
Tomorrow is Mardi Gras here in Sydney and apparently it’s one of the biggest Mardi Gras parties in the world. On Monday we are going to start our road trip up the coast for probably 20 days, I’m sure there will be lots of stories and pictures.
